Not every edit house is a huge international operation. Some of them are the opposite - small, tight-knit collectives built on trust, collaboration, and care. Backyard falls in that category: a group of London-based freelance editors working together under a shared name and ethos.
They asked for a brand that felt approachable, friendly, and trustworthy - like bringing in a mate who genuinely cares as much about your project as you do.
The name Backyard grew from that idea. It nods to the nostalgia of hanging out at each other’s houses, dreaming up big ideas, and making things for the sheer joy of it. A place that feels informal, familiar, and creatively free.
From there, the identity came together naturally. The logo became a pair of pups running side by side - loyal, energetic, and a little wild. A pared-back, monochromatic palette creates a timeless, almost vintage feel, while the tone of voice stays relaxed and self-aware, never taking itself too seriously.
