how do you turn an edit house into an edit home?
A small group of London-based editors approached me to design a brand they could work under as a collective.
They wanted it to feel approachable, friendly, and trustworthy - like bringing in a mate who genuinely cares as much about your project as you do.
The name Backyard nods to the nostalgia of hanging out at each other’s houses, dreaming up big ideas, and making things for the sheer joy of it. A place that feels informal, familiar, and creatively free.
For the logo, we explored hand-drawn, imperfect symbols that represented partnership and belonging. We landed on a pair of pups running side by side - loyal, energetic, and a little wild.
A pared-back, monochromatic palette creates a timeless, almost vintage feel, while the tone of voice stays relaxed and self-aware, never taking itself too seriously.
