Moroccan-British artist Rita Kamale’s Flower in the Jungle is a sultry, hypnotic track that blends Afrobeats and R&B with UK underground and Moroccan influences. A repetitive, almost trance-like electric guitar snakes through the track, drawing on the meditative rhythms and guitar sounds associated with Saharan blues.

For the artwork, I drew inspiration from the fluidity and expressive forms of Arabic calligraphy, experimenting with different nib pens before landing on a wide, flat nib that allowed me to create sweeping flourishes with sharp, defined terminals.

The credits use IM FELL English for its historic, imperfect letterforms. It felt like a complimentary contrast to the expressive calligraphy, grounding it within a formal structure that allows the hero type to blossom.
