Can a product challenge an entire sport’s ego?

In any other sport, injury is something to be avoided - but in rowing, bleeding and blistered hands are a status symbol. Despite having been proven to improve performance, rowing gloves are sneered upon as a symbol of weakness.

MANU is on a mission to change that.

MANU translates to ‘by hand’. Gloves or no gloves, the work still needs to be done; that boat needs to move fast, whatever it takes. Blisters are proof of friction, not of strength - and a rower’s suffering doesn’t have to be visible to be real.

That’s why MANU uses the durability of their gloves as a metaphor for the strength and resilience it takes to be a rower. Not only are MANU gloves tougher than you think, but so are the people that wear them.
